Only the ones you explicitly forward to your private Calla inbox address. Nothing else. We can't see your Gmail / Outlook / iCloud — Calla has no IMAP access, no OAuth scope to read your inbox. You forward an email, Claude AI extracts the event, the original is deleted from our servers within minutes.

Just the email body + subject of the messages you forward. We send them to Anthropic's Claude API to identify dates, times, and event details. Anthropic's terms forbid them from training on API customer data. We don't store the email content after extraction — only the event we created from it.

On Supabase (Postgres), hosted in Canada (ca-central-1). Encrypted at rest, encrypted in transit. Row-level security means your family's events are visible only to you and the co-parent you invite — no other Calla user can see them.

Photos you upload (kid avatars) are stored as JPEGs on Supabase Storage. They're scoped to your family — no global gallery, no facial-recognition pipeline, nothing fed to AI. Deleting your account deletes the photos.

Yes. More → Account → Delete account. Hits a confirmation, then a 7-day grace period (in case you change your mind), then a hard wipe — events, members, photos, profile, all gone. We don't keep "backup copies for legal reasons."

Two adults (you + a co-parent) plus your kids, sharing one calendar. The kids don't have accounts — they're profiles you manage. The adults sign in independently and see the same calendar in real time.

More → Family Sharing → Send invite. They get an email with a link. They tap, set a password, they're in. Takes about 30 seconds. Until they accept, the link is the only way in — there's no "search for users" feature.

Calla also runs in a browser at app.getcalla.ca. Your partner can sign in there, see the same calendar, and add events from a desktop or tablet.

You can read your calendar offline (it's cached). New events / saved flyers / Smart Inbox forwards need a connection — they queue up and sync when you're back online.

No printing, no postage, no per-invite charge — and no ads on any of it. Every design shows full screen on your guests' phones, edge to edge.

There are no ads on the designs, none on the invitation page your guests open, and none inside the app. We don't put a banner across your invitation, we don't sell your event to advertisers, and there isn't a single third-party ad or tracking script on the RSVP page your guests visit. Every reply is tracked live so you always know your headcount, and each "yes" is added to your family calendar automatically — no spreadsheet, no chasing people in a group chat.

No. Notifications fire only for events you've added (or that AI extracted from your forwarded emails). No "engagement" pings, no "you haven't opened the app in X days," no marketing pushes. Quiet hours are on by default.

Per-event push notifications — pick how far ahead (15 min, an hour, a day before, or all three) and Calla fires them server-side, even when the app is closed. Child names and locations are never shown on the locked screen — the alert stays generic and the detail only appears in the app after you unlock.

Yes — three ways. Forward an email to your private Calla address and AI extracts the event. Snap a school flyer with the camera and Calla reads the dates off the photo. Or tap the mic and say it ("Emma has soccer at 3pm Wednesday"). You can also cancel events by voice — "Skip soccer tomorrow" or "Emma is missing camp Friday" — and Calla finds the matching event(s) for you to confirm.

Yes — invitations are free, with no limit on how many you send. Pick any of the 1,000+ designs, add your details and share the link; your guests RSVP without an app or an account, and every "yes" lands on your calendar. You don't need a trial or a subscription to send invitations. The only invitation feature that's Premium is the animated "Living Card" designs, where the card unfolds and the artwork moves.

Yes, Calla is free to download and free to use for the things most families need: unlimited invitations and RSVP tracking, your shared family calendar, unlimited family members, lists and reminders, and adding events by voice. Every account also starts with a 14-day Premium trial (no card required), and when it ends nothing is taken away from that free set — you simply stop using the Premium extras unless you subscribe.

Premium adds the AI extras and the animated invitations: Catch (forward an email or snap a flyer and AI turns it into an event), Discover (handpicked local family activities), co-parent sharing, and the animated Living Card invitation designs. Everything else — including sending normal invitations — stays free.
