How to word a Punjabi wedding invitation
A Punjabi wedding is loud, bright and multi-day — dhol, phulkari colour, the doli send-off — whether the ceremony itself is a Sikh Anand Karaj or a Hindu phera. The invitation’s job is to hand guests the whole run of events at a glance: the mehndi, the jaggo night, the baraat, the ceremony and the reception, each with its own time, place and reply.
What to include
The full week, laid out so no one misses their event.
- Both names and both families, in the order you want them read.
- Each event on its own line — mehndi, jaggo, ceremony, reception — with time and venue.
- The ceremony type, so guests know what to expect (Anand Karaj at a gurdwara, or a Hindu phera).
- Dress cue — “festive”, “bright”, “traditional” — Punjabi weddings lean colourful.
- A reply per event, so catering for each night is a real number.
The events
- Mehndi & Jaggo — henna, dhol and late-night dancing before the day.
- Baraat — the groom’s procession, often on a decorated horse.
- The ceremony — Anand Karaj (Sikh) or the phera (Hindu).
- Doli & Reception — the send-off and the evening celebration.
When to send
- Save the date: five to six months ahead.
- Full invitation: six to eight weeks before.
- Replies about three weeks out, per event.

Questions people actually ask
- Are these really free?
- Yes. Every design here is free to send with Calla — you make the invitation, share a link, and collect RSVPs at no cost. Premium adds extras like AI Catch and animated invitations, but sending invitations is free.
- Do my guests need the app?
- No. They tap your link, see the invitation full-screen and RSVP in one tap — no download, no account, nothing to install.
- Can I add more than one event?
- Yes — lay out each event (mehndi, ceremony, reception, walima…) with its own time and place, and collect a separate reply for each so every headcount is real.
- How do I track who's coming?
- Every RSVP lands in the app as it arrives, and the event goes on your family calendar automatically.
- Do you show ads on the invitation?
- No — never, anywhere. No ads on the design, none on the page your guests open, and no third-party tracking on the RSVP page.
