What to include

Enough that a guest knows where to be, when, and how to show respect at the gurdwara.

• Open with “Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh” — the traditional greeting.
• Both names, and the families inviting, since a Sikh wedding is a union of families.
• The Anand Karaj date, time and gurdwara in full — mornings are typical, before the Guru Granth Sahib.
• Head-covering and seated-on-the-floor note, so guests come prepared (scarves for those who need them).
• Langar and the reception, each with its own time and place.

The events, in order

Most Sikh weddings run across a few days — give each one its own reply so the count is real.

• Akhand Path / Kirtan — the continuous reading and hymns in the days before.
• Maiyan, Mehndi & Jaggo — the pre-wedding celebrations at home.
• Anand Karaj — the ceremony itself, with the four laavan rounds around the Guru Granth Sahib.
• Langar & Reception — the community meal and the evening celebration.

When to send

Sikh weddings gather large, travelling families — give people time.

• Save the date: six months ahead, more if guests fly in.
• Full invitation: six to eight weeks before the Anand Karaj.
• Ask for replies about three weeks out, so langar and the reception rest on a real number.

Wording you can borrow

Warm, respectful and clear — name the union and the day without decoding.
